Huck Magazine
Independent Culture Magazine
Digital platform for bi-monthly magazine celebrating independent culture, counterculture movements, and young change-makers worldwide.
The Challenge
Huck Magazine, named after Mark Twain’s rebellious protagonist, needed a digital platform to match their mission of celebrating young change-makers and exploring emerging subcultures—from all-female roller derby in Beirut to heavy metal scenes in Botswana.
Published by TCOLondon since 2006, Huck had evolved from its surf and skate roots to cover the wider world of culture through a lens of activism and independence.
Our Approach
We created a multi-format platform using Craft CMS that seamlessly integrates long-form reportage, video content, and the magazine’s distinctive visual storytelling. The content architecture supports their exploration of subcultures as entry points for articles about music, politics, and places around the world.
The platform needed to honor Huck’s commitment to spotlighting artists, activists, and creative pioneers who challenge mainstream culture and forge communities for social change.
The Results
The digital platform successfully extends Huck’s celebration of independence and counterculture to the web. The site serves as a hub for stories about people challenging the status quo, maintaining the magazine’s reputation for in-depth reportage on unlikely subcultures worldwide.
