Joro
Real-Time Carbon Footprint Tracking App
Carbon footprint tracking app platform connecting spending data to climate impact, recognized as one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies.
The Challenge
Joro, founded by Sanchali Pal in 2018, needed a platform to make carbon footprint tracking accessible to everyone. The challenge was converting credit card spending data into real-time emissions estimates while maintaining user trust and data security.
Our Approach
We built a secure platform that integrates with financial institutions while working with algorithms developed with Yale and Stanford researchers. The system asks basic lifestyle questions, then automatically estimates emissions from each purchase.
The platform includes a transparent carbon offset marketplace where users can offset emissions for as little as $25 per ton, with rigorous due diligence assessing providers on eleven criteria including verifiability, scalability, and ecosystem impact.
The Results
Joro raised $10M in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital, Jay-Z’s Arrive, and others. The app was recognized as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies in 2022. The platform successfully makes climate action accessible, helping users understand and reduce their carbon footprints in real-time.
