The Challenge

Surface Matter, celebrating 10 years in business in 2023, needed a platform that could showcase sustainable design materials while helping designers and architects understand the technical specifications and environmental benefits of surfaces like Richlite, Durat, Plasticiet, Pierreplume, and Skatelite.

Our Approach

We built a Craft Commerce platform that goes beyond traditional e-commerce to tell the story of each material. The system includes detailed technical specifications, sustainability credentials, and project galleries showing materials in real-world applications.

As a Certified B Corp, Surface Matter’s commitment to “materials used better” and “change shouldn’t mean waste” informed every aspect of the platform design. The architecture supports both specification-driven searches and inspiration-led browsing.
